Studies description

This Technical Degree prepares the student to develop the role required by our present day society. At the end of the degree, the student shall be able to visually represent and synthesize narratives and concepts which require the time variable to be explained.

In order to acquire such skills, during the course the student becomes familiar with the laws, techniques and programme necessary to produce and fulfil an animation project. Such may be a short film, a commercial or an interactive application that requires the support of photography, video and animation to explain a specific story.

Its professional fields of application are, among others, the creation of scripts, characters and settings as well as the moulding and animation of different objects.

Certificate

Technical Degree in Design and Plastic Arts specialised in Animation.

Length of the program of study

Technical Degrees last for two academic years, apart from the time required for the fulfilment of a final project. The title that students obtain at the end of these studies allows them direct access to University.

Final Degree Project

During such period, the student needs to carry out a personal project related to any of the fields of Audiovisual Animation. The final result may range from a short film or an interactive tale to other related products such as the start of a television programme, an advertisement, a set of TV continuity screens, etc.

The project is tutored by either one of the cycle teachers or an external specialist in the field. Regardless the topic chosen, the student needs to develop a project from the very conception of the idea to its creation and fulfilment.

Vocational Training

Vocational Training is also a necessary requirement to obtain the certificate (120h). The process of vocational training, studios or workshops may consist of:

  • Vocational practice in both private and public companies.
  • Fulfilment of academically addressed work which can be integrated in the curriculum of the cycle. This may be carried out at the school.
  • Fulfilment of activities carried out inside exchange programmes, both national and international.
The tutoring of training students in companies will be supervised by the tutor of the Technical Degree through direct contact with company managers and the students themselves. Training in companies enables the student to become familiar with the labour sphere (insertion objective) at the same time that it helps them to complete their learning of their favourite vocational field (qualification objective).

Career Possibilities

These include any Animation task carried out as an independent professional or associated to companies that produce animated cinema, cinema and television, advertising, graphic design, interactive and multimedia applications and teaching materials.
