Description of the program of study
Certificate Higher Degree (equivalent to Bachelor's Degree) Design Degree, in the speciality of Graphic Design Length of the program of study 4 years 240 ECT (basic subjects, compulsory subjects, elective subjects, seminars, vocational training and final degree project) During the first year, students receive a basic formation, common to all specialities taught at Pau Gargallo. During the second year they start to choose an itinerary with compulsory subjects related to their speciality. They will complete their studies throughout the four years with common subjects, elective subjects, interdisciplinary projects, vocational training, seminars and the final degree project. Upon completion of the Design Degree, students gain access to the official Master's degree. During this Master's degree, students will shape the vocational or academic specialization and begin to research tasks in the field of design. Subjects Basic subjects: Foundations of Design, Languages and Illustration and Communication Techniques, Science Applied to Design, History of Arts and Design, Culture of Design, Administration of Design Compulsory speciality subjects: Typography, Technology Applied to Graphic Design, History of Graphic Design, Graphic Design Studio, And Graphic Design Administration. First year subjects and credits ECTS Introduction to Design (8 credits 2nd semester) Theory of Perception, Colour and Form (4 credits 1st sem) Two-dimensional and Three-dimensional Design Workshop (8 credits annual) Drawing (6 credits annual) Flat and Descriptive Geometry (6 credits 1st sem) Computer Assisted Drawing (6 credits 2nd sem) Typography and Composition (3 credits 2nd sem) Photography and the Digital Image (3 credits 1st sem) Audiovisual Methods (2 credits 2nd sem) Introduction to Materials (6 credits 1st sem) History of Arts (4 credits 1st sem) Introduction to the History of Design (4 credits 2nd sem) Job opportunities The profile of the designer that follows these studies is that of a qualified professional who is capable of conceiving, promoting and documenting a creative process with a full command of the theoretical and practical principles of design and project methodology. Graduates are also capable of integrating different languages, techniques and technologies to their design practice. The main professional fields for designers who have graduated from this program are: Corporate and Visual Identity, Publishing Design, Graphic Production, Package Design, Art Direction in Advertising, Audiovisual Design, Television Graphics, Multimedia Design, Interactive Design, Web Design, Environmental Design, Didactic Material Design, Research and Teaching.
